U.S. Rep. Newman (IL-03) Announces First-Of-A-Kind Mobile Site Services To Safely Meet With Constituents Amid COVID-19

February 22, 2021

New mobile services are designed to provide constituents with a safe one-on-one consultation with district staff while staying protected from COVID-19

WASHINGTON D.C. – As part of a first-of-a-kind effort to ensure district staff can safely meet in-person with local constituents amid COVID-19, U.S. Representative Marie Newman (IL-03) today announced new mobile site services that will be held across the district this season. Starting this week and through mid-March, Congresswoman Newman’s district office will hold three in-person, mobile site events that will take place outside to provide constituents with a safe, one-on-one consultation with district staff. While in-person activity in the district office has been suspended due to COVID-19, these new sites will allow residents to meet directly with staff members for a 10-minute consultation about federal issues or services available through the office, such as assisting individuals with working with a federal agency, submitting grant applications, ordering flags, and more.

“Since my first day in office, my number one priority has been ensuring the residents in Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District receive the services they deserve from their representative. While the pandemic has prevented in-person consultations from taking place in our offices, that’s not stopping us from bringing district services directly to our communities and constituents,” said Congresswoman Newman. “By creating more lines of communication and additional opportunities to meet one-on-one with my staff, we are not only ensuring the voices of IL-03 are heard loud and clear but also that those in desperate need of services are getting the help and support they need.”

In addition to the mobile sites, Congresswoman Newman has held a number of neighborhood stop-by events during her first two months in office as part of an effort to ensure residents can meet face-to-face with their representative. The office also continues to host virtual town halls with constituents on critical issues facing the district, including vaccine distribution and small business supports. In fact, this Wednesday, Feb. 24, Congresswoman Newman will hold a virtual town hall on Facebook at 6 p.m. CT to answer questions about COVID-19 relief for small businesses.

This season’s mobile site visits will take place from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. CT on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Feb. 25: Romeoville Village Hall (1050 W. Romeo Rd., Romeoville, IL 60446)
  • Thursday, March 4: SeatGeek Stadium (7000 S. Harlem Ave., Bridgeview, IL 60455 – Parking Lot E)
  • Thursday, March 11: West Lawn Park (4233 W. 65th St., Chicago, IL 60629)

Please note: All mobile site events will take place outside, where residents can walk up and receive direct services. Masks and face-coverings will be required for all staff and constituents. If you have any questions, please contact the District Office at 773-948-6223
